Kira Gurnée Actor Biography
In addition to her Voice Over acting career, Kira Gurnée is an experienced on camera actress with TV, Film, Commercial, Video, and Webisode credits. With her Comedy, Sketch and Improv experience, she easily transitions from dramatic projects to comedic ones. Directors know they can count on Kira to embody the character, have great energy, and make subtle adjustments as requested. Her News background means she can play Anchors and Reporters with no extra coaching needed.
Her work has included projects with Demi Moore, David Spade, Dennis Franz, and Ving Rhames. She has also worked with Blue Collar Comedy.com and Jerry Zucker’s hilarious comedy troupe, National Banana. You may recognize her as the reporter and anchor in promos for “Zombieland” and “A Perfect Getaway”. Fact based films are always on her radar and Kira greatly enjoyed portraying First Lady Helen Taft in the Japanese/American movie “Takamine”, and being part of the movie, “See Arnold Run”, based on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s road to the Governor’s office.
As a professional Voiceover actress, Kira has done numerous animated characters, including several cartoons, a pilot for MTV, and the animated short “Nimrod and Stinky’s Antarctic Adventure” on the “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” DVD.
For those special skills that are often needed, Kira is a licensed motorcyclist, sports car driver at the track, advanced level Scuba diver, trained Tap dancer, Singer, Yoga practitioner, Rollerblader, Hiker, and Snowboarder. She has doctor’s office experience and is excellent with medical and pharmaceutical terminology. Kira is also a certified wine expert, nutritional supplement researcher, self-proclaimed sushi expert, and according to her friends- a darn good cook!
Kira loves the creativity of independent projects and getting the chance to improvise and really make the character her own. So when a director she had worked with before asked her to play Harry Potter’s ex-wife in the humorous webisode “Life After Hogwarts”, how could she say no? In her mind there is nothing better than a positive, wickedly funny working environment to produce a fantastic finished product. Plus, her costar really looked a lot like Daniel Radcliffe!
